CSCIS Launches Cyber Intelligence Defence Centre / CIDC
October 13, 2016
LONDON, UK, October 13, 2016 - - The Centre for Strategic Cyberspace + International Studies (CSCIS), an international cybersecurity think tank, is pleased to announce the formation of the Cyber Intelligence Defence Centre (CIDC) at CSCIS.
The CIDC is established in recognition of the profound impact that the confluence between cybersecurity threats and the role ‘intelligence’ must have on shaping contemporary cybersecurity and security operations.
The Centre for Strategic Cyberspace and International Studies has started an initiative to facilitate intelligence sharing on cyber threats. The Cyber Intelligence Defence Centre offers a selection of products and services designed to keep members informed on the changing activity and threats in cyber space (situational awareness). It will provide executives with key information for oversight and planning of security operations. This includes observations, analysis, trend identification and forecasting, and convert cyber security into a resource that integrates into existing processes from planning to operations.
David Swan, head of the Cyber Intelligence Defence Centre or CIDC, said “what makes us different is we start with intelligence professionals, and focus on cyber. We focus on threat issues first because that is how we were trained.” The CIDC Team produces products and services designed for people who are not cyber security professionals or even ‘geeks.’ “We want you to understand what is happening, where it started and what we expect will happen next” said Swan.
The CIDC focuses on the critical thinking, research, design, and intelligence skills and experience needed to examine the impact of cyber threats. Richard, President of CIDC, said “there is an ‘intelligence gap’ that has occurred due to lack of understanding regarding the intelligence process. Intelligence is not simply a summary report on events in cybersecurity; it is the culmination of experience, hard analysis, forecasts and ultimately recommendations on the issue(s) at hand. Through the CIDC we are closing that gap”
The CIDC evangelizes cyber intelligence by participating in meetings, forums, events, and roundtables globally.
