London, November 24, 2016 – Noted cybersecurity expert Mike Gillespie joins the Centre for Strategic Cyberspace + Security Science (CSCSS) as Vice President of the CSCSS, C3i Cybersecurity, Cybercrime, and Cyber Intelligence Group

Mr. Gillespie will work with the President to lead the Centre’s efforts to provide in-depth, knowledge and leadership on the current threats emanating from cyberspace to organisational information assets. He will provide expert analysis in the area of cyberspace cybersecurity defense, as well as other key cyber issues security issues relating to cybercrime and intelligence.

Mr. Gillespie will work closely with CSCSS senior staff and advisers along with other experts in the International, Cybercrime and Intelligence Security Programmes.

“With the addition of Mike, CSCSS has put together a premier cyber defense team,” said Richard Zaluski, President, CEO of CSCSS. “Threats have never been greater and will continue to grow. As the world is increasingly interconnected, we must continue to refocus, reform, and reshape the responsibility of securing cyberspace. As a cyberspace security organization the CSCSS mandate is to promote cyber globally. To do so we need luminaries and experts in various fields. Mike brings valuable expertise, drive and experience to this critical position. Adding Mike to our team raises our game even further. We are delighted to have him join us”.

Speaking of his new role Mr. Gillespie commented, “I have long been an admirer of the work the CSCSS have been doing in the cybersecurity arena and have been lucky enough to contribute to their activities as a select committee member for some time. I am honored to have been asked to take on the Vice President role and I look forward to continuing to collaborate with likeminded professionals to improve organisational understanding of cyber threat and raise awareness of the issues on the international stage. By doing so we can increase the barriers to success for cyber criminals and minimize the effects of security breaches in this ever evolving landscape”.

Mr. Gillespie comes to CSCSS from with a formidable background in cybersecurity having co-founded Advent IM Limited, the UK’s leading independent security consultancy, 15 years ago, where he continues as Managing Director and an active lead consultant and trainer, well versed in the threat to organisational information assets. An active member of the Security Institute since 2008, Mike was voted onto the board of Directors in 2013 and given special responsibility for Cyber Research and Strategy. As a subject matter expert Mike is called upon regularly to speak at events and contribute to editorial, including the BBC and The Sunday Times as well as other regular industry media. Most recently he was asked to join the editorial board of Professional Security Magazine providing regular content on various cyber-related topics and the cyber impact on physical security.
