Welcome to the CSCSS External Relations & Advancement portfolio web page – the gateway to CSCSS Office of Advancement, Government, and Industry Relations.

CSCSS External Relations and Advancement brings together units responsible for influencing cyber policy and opinion and strengthening the CSCSS reputation and the perceptions people hold of it. Working in partnerships with the Office of Media Relations, It provides a channel for news, background and resources about CSCSS in relation to partner relations, and global issues in cyberspace and sustainable aspects of cyber relating to the CSCSS mission and vision.

Our Mission

Based on a shared passion for CSCSS, our mission is to develop, inspire and nurture relationships to build support, attract funding, increase engagement, raise profile and enhance the CSCSS reputation to ‘advance’ the CSCSS mission and vision. We aim to foster an enthusiastic and informed network of ambassadors and partners, staff, researchers, faculty of experts, donors and partners to address the hard issues in cyberspace, security, and world around us.

The Centre for Strategic Cyberspace + Security Science is a global organization with its headquarters in London, UK. CSCSS’s global / regional presence includes North America, Europe, Africa, East Asia, and Asia Pacific.

Our Areas of Focus and Operation

CSCSS External Relations initiatives are led primarily by the President’s Office and supported through the External Relations and Advancement Portfolio and the Office of Media Relations at CSCSS.

External Relations function seeks to strategically position CSCSS within the priorities of the industry, governments, and academia by building long-term relationships, increasing CSCSS’s profile and building awareness, identifying key research sectors within government and industry priorities, creating new partnerships, sustaining current ones, and supporting global cyber advocacy strategies.

CSCSS External Relations acts as a resource by:

 

  • Developing strategies to showcase CSCSS attributes and opportunities for investment and partnerships through continued communications with key industry, and government officials at all levels.
  • Supporting the CSCSS research strategy by tracking government priorities and ascertaining complementary CSCSS research opportunities.
  • Targeting outreach to key industry, and government departments, as well as monitoring announcements and cultivating existing CSCSS partnerships
    Working towards increasing the CSCSS profile in existing and new partnerships as well as positioning CSCSS as the centre for strategic development strategies for cyberspace..
  • Supporting national and transnational cyberspace security advocacy strategies

We provide strategic marketing and communication leadership for CSCSS, together with information to support decision making and strategic planning across the Centre.

The office is responsible for relations with new partners who wish to engage the CSCSS on a new initiative. If you are interested in partnering with, or proposing a new project, programme, or initiative we encourage you to contact us. We follow the following process for the development and launch of initiatives at CSCSS.

Initial Concept : An initial concept is identified by CSCSS and/or a partner as a result of market analysis that may be carried out with CSCSS as a new initiative.

Outline Business Plan / Rationale : This involves the preparation of an outline business plan and accompanying rationale. If approved the plan which will be endorsed by a corresponding CSSCSS Review Board.

Approval Process : Each application must undergo a rigorous assessment process to ensure viability. This includes financial viability as well as the business viability of the proposal. CSCSS works with industry and government to fund its projects. All initiatives must be funded.

Proposals can only authorized by the CSCSS Review Board. More complex proposals require approval by the CSCSS Board of Directors who may require and recommend that the proposed initiative be subject to further investigation for viability.

Final Approval : All proposals will need to go to a convened Initiatives Approval Board for final approval. Contact CSCSS Approval for advice on how and when to submit the proposal. Once fully approved full programme regulations will be developed within CSCSS to ensure governance.

About the Initiatives Approval Board (IAB)

The Board is staffed by CSCSS Subject Matter Experts and members of the CSCSS Advisory Board with relevant experience in relation to the initiatives involved. Their mission is o review appropriate data and performance indicators and use this information to formulate advice CSCSS about indicative financial targets regarding all CSCSS initiative development.
